Always use Coaster with Wine Glasses, Soda Cans, and all other Cups. Coasters will protect your counter from acidic liquids that can cause Etching and ring marks.
Alway use Cutting Boards while cuttting. Softer Stones like Marble, Travertine and Limestone will scratch easily from knifes.
Avoid dragging pots and pans across Marble, Travertine, Limestone and all other Soft Surfaces. This may cause scratching.
Always wipe down Counter after each use, sitting water and oil based spill can cause damage on all counter including Granite.
Always replace bad and old caulking or silicone. Most granite fabricators insert metal rods into the front edge of your granite counters. This gives your counters extra strengh for transporting and installing. Over time your caulking that seals you sink to your counter will go bad and if not replace moister will seeps in and causes that metel rod to rust. Which then cause your granite to crack.
Only use Cleaners Specially formulated for Natural Stone. Never use plain water, this was cause build up and Mineral Deposit.
Seal all Natural Stone Countertops with Preferably a Solvant Based Sealer That Protects with a Flouropolymer. Flouropolymers will give you the best protection againist Water and Oil Based Spills. This also includes all Natural Stone Back Splashes and all surrounding Grout.
Flooring
All Stone Surfaces should be Dust Mopped Frequently. This will help prevent Wear Patterns and Traffic Patterns. As we walk on our Natural Stone surfaces Dirt and Sand trapped beneath our shoes act as an abrasive wearing the finish away.
Do Not use Vinegar, Tile Cleaner or Grout Cleaner on any Natural Stone. All of these Cleaners contain acid and will remove the polish from any calcium based stone and even some pre-fab Granites.
Household items such as Pianos, Fridgerators, Washers, Dryers, and any Large Furniture are common item that will cause large scratches if not handled properly. When handleing these item always use dolleys when available, this will help provent any furniture from dragging across the stone surfaces. It is also wise to use felts on the bottom all chairs and coaches to help prevent scratchs.
